Itienerary

Your journey of connection begins as you land at Entebbe International Airport. A member of your Tugende Afric guide team will be there to welcome you with a calm and joyful spirit. We'll transfer you to your hotel, where your guide will provide a heartfelt briefing on the meaningful week ahead. The evening is yours to rest, relax, and gently acclimate to the beautiful pace of Uganda.

After a hearty breakfast, we begin our scenic drive with Tugende Afric southwest to the legendary Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. As the landscape unfolds into rolling green hills, feel the anticipation build. We will take you directly to your chosen lodge in the Bwindi-Mgahinga Conservation Area, carefully selected by Tugende Afric based on your gorilla permit sector (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo, or Nyakagezi) to ensure you are perfectly positioned for tomorrow's awe-inspiring encounter.

We rise with purpose. After an early breakfast, your Tugende Afric guide ensures you arrive at the briefing point by 7:30 am. Following registration and an essential briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, we step into the ancient, UNESCO-protected forest. The trek, supported by local porters if you wish, leads to a moment of profound humility: one precious hour in the presence of a mountain gorilla family. This Tugende Afric-facilitated experience is a treasure you will carry forever, culminating in a graduation certificate from this World Heritage Site.

Today, we connect with human history. After breakfast, Tugende Afric facilitates a deeply respectful and enlightening visit to the Batwa community, the original guardians of the Bwindi forest. This is not a performance, but a privileged sharing of culture through story, song, and ancient skills like fire-making. It’s a powerful lesson in resilience and connection to the land. After this moving experience, we journey north towards the lush realms of Kibale National Park.

Kibale Forest, the "Primate Capital," awaits. After breakfast, we set out with our Tugende Afric guide and park rangers to track our playful and intelligent cousins, the chimpanzees. As we search, we learn about the forest's intricate ecosystem its towering trees, colorful birds, and other primates. The chance to observe their complex social interactions is a thrill we are honored to share. We return to the lodge for a celebratory lunch and a relaxed evening by the fire.

Wellness is found in connection. Today, Tugende Afric guides you into the daily life of a local community near Kibale. This is a hands-on day of shared activity. You might join in the gentle art of beekeeping, learn about the journey of coffee from bean to cup, or participate in a seasonal harvest. It’s a day to laugh, learn, and contribute, understanding the sustainable rhythms of life that flourish alongside the forest.

We slow the pace to match the forest's own. After breakfast, your Tugende Afric guide will lead you on a gentle guided walk through the verdant edges of Kibale. This is a sensory journey listen for the symphony of birdcalls from over 375 species, breathe in the clean, earthy air, and appreciate the quiet majesty of the rainforest. It’s a morning of mindfulness and beautiful, slow discovery before an afternoon of leisure to reflect.

After a final breakfast surrounded by the sounds of the forest, your Tugende Afric guide will accompany you on the transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your onward journey, perhaps to Arusha, Tanzania. You depart not just with memories, but with a sense of shared humanity and a deeper connection to the natural world.
