This is the day. After a very early breakfast, Tugende Afric will ensure you arrive at the designated briefing center by 7:30 am. Here, you will verify your permit and receive a comprehensive and important briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Remember to bring your charged cameras, rainproof clothes, hiking boots, packed lunch, and plenty of water your Tugende Afric guide will have reminded you!
Then, we walk. With the guidance of expert trackers, we venture into the ancient forest. The moment you come face-to-face with a mountain gorilla family is a moment of pure, humbling wonder that Tugende Afric is honored to facilitate. Following the strict guidelines to protect these endangered cousins, you will have one precious hour in their presence. You will graduate with a certificate from this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If your trek concludes early, Tugende Afric can arrange an optional, powerful cultural visit to the Batwa community, offering insight into the first people of the forest through song, performance, and ancient skills like fire-making. Supporting local community curio shops is also a wonderful way to connect.
